Notification Settings

Configuring Notification Settings & Best Practices

The OpComm Clinical Portal allows you to customize your notifications so you can stay updated on important case activities without getting overwhelmed. You can choose to receive notifications based on whether you have joined or followed a case.

The notification types are as follows:

Census Change (General)

A patient census change, such as transfer or discharge, occurs.

Chat Message (General)

Task Completion - All Phases

Setting Your Notifications

  • Followed Cases: Choose to receive notifications for cases you are following (even if you are not officially assigned). This helps you monitor updates passively.

  • Joined Cases: Notifications for cases you have actively joined are more immediate and detailed, supporting your role in direct patient care and task completion.

Simply toggle the switches under Followed or Joined to turn each type of notification on or off according to your needs.

Surgeons should prioritize updates that impact scheduling and major procedure progress.

Anesthesiologists

  • Chat Message: On (Joined)

Focus on changes that affect procedure timing and intraoperative communication.

Circulating Nurses

  • Task Completion: On (Joined)

  • Task Phase All: On (Joined)

  • Chat Message: On (Joined)

Nurses need real-time updates about checklist status and team communications.

Coordinators / Admin Staff

  • Census Change: On (Followed)

  • Start Time Changed: On (Followed)

Monitor overall case flow without being directly involved in clinical tasks.

General Recommendations

  • Joined Cases: Turn on all critical workflow alerts (Start Time, Chat, Task Completion).

  • Followed Cases: Use more selective alerts (Case Landmark, Census Change) to monitor without clutter.
